CLIP COLLEGE HOUR REPORT Yesterday we went to a Clip College Hour in S112 and I listened to three presentations. Before the presenter spoke about sexual harassment, she explained the word "Diversity". The word Diversity refers to many variables including color, gender, age, education, race etc. It is acceptance and respect without discrimination. Diversity helps us learn more, it helps us build trust by promoting, and developing our interpersonal skills. The first topic we learned about was sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is an unwelcome sexual advance, bad words sexual language, or inappropriate touching. It is a bad behavior. She said that sexual harassment is illegal. There are two types of sexual harassment ,Quid pro Quo and hostile academic environment. The hostile academic environment occurs in a company or an organization, it could be verbal, non-verbal,physical and visual. Everybody can be guilty or a victim of sexual harassment: men, women, or children. Furthermore, harassment can occur on a bus, in the campus, everywhere. What we can do is to report the problem as soon as possible The second topic was about "Domestic Violence". This means relationship abuse, physical aggression by our husband or boyfriend. Domestic violence takes place in the house. I heard that Domestic violence is a crime. We watched a movie about the topic. In the movie the child went to his grandfather's house and played a game with his bear. He hit the toy and his grandfather asked him why he had done that. He explained to his grandfather that his Dad beat her mother. The grandfather was very surprised to hear that and tried to resolve the situation. There was a nurse who helped the victim of domestic violence to be free. She explained how to stop the husband from hitting , beating her. They went to the police station and explained the situation to the police. The police woman explained what she could do. The suggestion I heard : if a person is a victim of domestic violence, this person should call 311 for help because domestic violence is dangerous. The last topic was about "Plagiarism". The word plagiarism means when you use someone words or ideas and copy them as your own without credit. I learned about citing your source. When you get information, say or write where the info came from. It can be a book, a newspaper, a journal. I learned that plagiarism is not good for college students. The suggestion is to avoid plagiarism. To avoid plagiarism we must give credit to the person's ideas, put quotation marks around what another person said or wrote or paraphrase

CUNY’s EXTRA PROGRAMS
Education is the key to success. College students in the United States, especially at CUNY, are very lucky because there are a lot of free programs that can help them continue their education to gain more knowledge and find a job in the future. First of all we have Single Stop offers college student different free services. Career Path is the second program that helps students in career advancement and successful college transition. The last program is ASAP. It helps student pay for their courses. All of those programs are free and give students advantages in their life.
From the presentation last Monday, we learned about an interesting program called Single Stop. The presenter showed us several interesting points. We learned that Single Stop is a program that helps students stay in school and graduate. It also helps students take full advantage of this benefits and services (Quick Benefits Screening, Financial Counseling, Legal Assistance, and Tax Preparation). The presenter introduced four different services: benefits screening, financial counseling, and legal assistant and free tax preparation. First of all, Benefits Screening is a process that can help us with any financial worries. This service helps to determine if we are eligible for benefits such as health insurance, child care assistance, food stamps, and many more. Secondly, free Financial Counseling provides help to manage, save and budget your money. Third, they provide Legal Assistance. The program helps us with any legal problem by giving us advice and it is free. Also, if it is necessary, they can help you in any fair hearing, housing court cases, as well as in other matters. Finally, Tax Preparation is another service that helps students and their families by providing excellent tax preparation, with the maximum refund and it is completely free. We can apply during the months of January to April. In my opinion, this program provides excellent benefits for students in their college time.
Learning skills is very important for college students because they want a better life for the future. One interesting program we learned about is called Career Path. It is a free program that can support students in career advancement and successful college transition. Career Path prepares participants for an occupational training for nine months in medical CPR, AKJ, EMT, MOA, and CHW. It also provides manufacturing, culinary, and green jobs (protect environment, interest in architecture, and save energy). To join Career Path, students must be 18 years or older. Secondly, they must have a high school diploma or GED and be interested in getting a good college degree. Third, they must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We can get more information at this address www. CUNY career path.edu ,or call 1718-281-5157. I am interested in Career Path because this program offers many opportunities to students to learn new skills and find a job after the training. I think I will inform and encourage my friends to participate or integrate in Career Path because it is not only a program to earn money, but to become a helper in this world.
The last program we found interesting was ASAP. Queensborough Accelerate Study in Associate Programs is dynamic and innovative programs that will help students finish their degree in three years or less. This program guides students to complete every step until they graduate. We can apply for ASAP before the college semester stars, but it has some limited conditions. For example, nursing and early childhood education majors not eligible. The students must have 15 or fewer college credits and earn a2.0 GPA or above. So if someone doesn’t reach GPA standard, he can’t apply for this program. ASAP support students by providing a free monthly MTA METRO CARD. For more information about ASAP we can ask questions at the at the office or also search at www.CUNY.edu/asap.com
In conclusion, those programs “SINGLE STOP, “CAREER PATH” and “ASAP” are some free advantages those students at CUNY must participate in because they will help them to complete their achievements. Even if students have struggles in their lives, those programs are ready to give them the right advice.
CLASS VISIT Communication is one of things we think is easy but harder than it seems. The class we visited was speech 211 and it was very interesting. Mr Caserano, the teacher spoke very clearly. This class was located at humanities Building door 114. We met from 12h:10 to 2:00 pm. The topic was about fear. We learned that to tell a story we need a specific program to inform the audience about the first anxiety attack we ever had. We need an organisation to tell a story. I can say yes the speech 211 was easy because the teacher spoke loudly and clearly. On the other hand, I can say it was difficult because the lesson that day seems like a continue leson. I was a little frighttened and nervous. I couldn't listen or write what Mr Cesarano said. Yes I would like to recommand this class to my classmate because this class will help us to improve our writing and speaking as a second language. To get an Ain this class the learner should not be afraid to speak to an audience, or to ask question. The learners should participate 100% and should be present everyday. Also it should practice with friends . The speech class trains college students how to communicate with other people and to speak to an audience in fifteen minutes. Furthermore, it helps students avoid panic and plan for success.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE THIS SEMESTER?
This semester in CLIP I learned many interesting programs about college knowledge than the last semester. The most interesting programs was about" Single Stop"," Career Path" and " ASAP". I strongly believe those programs was very educative for us because we learned some benefits about them, and how to apply. The first program we learned was Single Stop. It is aprogram that help students stay in school and graduate. Students take full adventage of these benefits and services( Benefits Screening, Financial Counseling, Legal Assistance, and Tax Preparation) The second was Career Path. It support students in career advancement and successful college transition.Career Path prepares learners for an occupational training in medical for nine months. Furthermore, this program offers learners opportunities to learn new skills and find a job quickly. The last and most interesting program was ASAP. This program guides students to complete every step until they graduate. To conclude those programs was very helpful. I expect that they will not be use for the future generation because everybody don't have the same opportunities, capacities to pay their schooling.
